The correct approach to achieve the “optimal” position and distribution of implants to support a complete fixed prosthesis should go beyond the number of implants used in the treatment plan. It should be based on an individual analysis that takes into account several factors: problems with the prostheses; included materials; the locations of the implants in the jaw; the quality and quantity of bone in which they are placed; occlusal scheme, loads and forces; surgical approach (guided x free arm). Therefore, determining a proper treatment strategy aimed at avoiding complications can become a challenge.
This presentation will discuss some of the approaches that are now available to support predictability with long-term outcomes, focusing on clinical treatment planning.
